Down here in the South every carbonated sodie pop is referred to as a "coke". Thus when Bubber hollers "let's git us a coke" he means a "cold drink" as in Cool Hand Luke. Nehi, RC, MrCola, Upper 10, etc. ?????ÿ

I grew up in ND but one of my good highschool friends was a military kid, his parents were from Mississippi.?ÿ When I'd visit his place his parents would say "Want a coke?"?ÿ I'd say sure, and they'd bring me a sprite, or dr pepper, or pepsi, basically anything but an actual coke.?ÿ The first few times I was thinking what the hell is wrong with these people...?ÿ Eventually my buddy explained it to me, funny stuff for sure.
