How good is a flashing strobe prism for night time / underground mining surveying?

62mm Flashing strobe prism

Might not help, but if your gun has tracking lights, the prism will reflect the light directly back to the gun. Pretty handy for getting those late night shots. you'll have to watch for how the reflection returns to you to get a feel for where the nodal point of the glass is.

We bought a few and used them a few times underground. I prefer to use a normal prism with a good flashlight pointing at it. The flash wasn't long enough for me when we were setting good control. If I was just getting a sight to tie in walls it wasn't to bad.

Lights for helping to find the glass are indispensable but just get the clip on led lights and put them on a standard glass/target.

I could not find a picture online of the ones I use but they are just a single led blinker light in a clip on assembly, they come in different colors.

I'll bet the tail strobe light on my bike: http://ecom1.planetbike.com/3034.html
would do the trick if someone wants a good stobe light (not prism.) It has a clip like a ballpoint pen that could be attached with a hose clamp or something similar.
It kind of gets your attention like a police stop would.
