I am asking for a friend (aka beerleg lurker)...
He is taking the Florida test the next time it comes up. Do ya'll have any suggetsions as far as study materiels go? He will get all of the laws and rules, but can anyone suggest anymore sources of study materials?
Thanks in advance, "Coach" will appriciate it...
Study these rules as they are covered by the Florida Jurisdictional Exam:
Chapter 177, F.S. (platting, coastal mapping & restoration of corners)
Chapter 472, F.S. (land surveying)
Chapter 718, F.S. (condominiums)
Chapter 95, F.S. (adverse possession)
Chapter 5J-17, F.A.C. (survey regulations)
Have printed copied to carry in with you if that is still allowed.
I found a copy of Black's Law Dictionary to be helpful along with my old real estate law text book.
Granted, it has been a while since I took it so maybe someone who has taken it more recently can add something else.
I purchased pdh courses from The FSMS, they helped significantly. The test was not easy even though it is multiple choice.
BTW.... I am not a "Florida guy," but got a Florida PSM
My advice is always to relax! You either know it or you don't. Getting nervous only causes your brain to freeze up. Heck, I got drunk the night before and passed on my first try. Go into it confident, and you're half way there!
Black's Law Dictionary and Definition of Surveying and Associated Terms seemed to help me alot.....but be aware of all the Florida Laws, etc....;-)
"Coach" can read??!! :-O
Mostly books on tape....
Order the following correspondence courses from FSMS:
Florida Laws
Platting
Minimum Technical Standards.
Bind all that stuff together, including the answer sheets and take them all the day before the test. Then take them to the test with you. If you don't make a 90, you should hang your head in shame.
Don't forget to study up on BLM procedures.
When I took the exam back in 2000, we had to break a section down on the closing township and range lines, would definitely be beneficial to know.
Thanks for the replies!
I just wanted yall to know that Coach says thank you for all the replies.... He isn't the most interweb savy guy that i have ever met....

That would have been beneficial to know prior to the spring 2009 test. However, starting with that test it was changed to 100 multiple choice. Frankly, I don't remember a single question about the public land system being on the test.
