What is this thing and how it is used ? First time I came across something like this..
Trimble Traverse Kit.
High precision glass, high precision 45" level vial (under the hood on the right side of the circled area), high precision rotating plummet (not part of the tribrach) and high $$$.
The "S" and "SX" ticks are measure-up points that correspond to the "bottom of notch" measurements for the S and SX total stations. Measure slant height, input to Access, it automatically calculates true height.
Excellent piece of kit. Highly recommend it if you need quality data.
I call it the rotating tribrach adapter. The benefit to having these is the optical adjustment can be checked easily. If you look through the plummet over the point, and then rotate the adapter, calibration can be considered okay if the plummet remains on the point. Unlike tribrachs with an optical plummet that cannot be easily checked. Mine are also calibrated to the height of the instrument. Swap the prism and the instrument and both will be at the same height.
I agree 100%. It is a good kit for sure. I just wish i had more than one set for 3 crews.
Make sure you turn the measure up adapter out correctly and it will fall into place. The measure up of that S notch and your s series bottom notch will match. Also over the spirit bubble it has a cover that will keep it shades when you are done leveling up.
