Really nice contrast in colors. These look nice but I'm sure in person was much better with the fresh air and getting a little exercise at the same time.

Thanks guys. You’re right Deral, the photo doesn’t do them justice… only Darryl M. could replicate the true site we saw.

We had walked in half a mile to GPS a section corner and then had to hoof about 3000’ to this search location. From the section corner, just as the fog was lifting, we took a compass bearing and the aspen pot of gold was dead center on our site. In the photo below of the section corner observations, the aspens are barely discernible on the gray horizon, just over the juniper in the right side of the frame (actually Western Juniper (Juniperus occidentalis), pronounced “tex-as see-dur”)

A couple of deep draws were between us and our destination, but the lone island of aspens made navigation a no-brainer. A bright yellow splash in a sea of pines.

The fog's lifted and we're halfway there
