:'( :-S

Did the author of this ad do some type of cut & paste from some rude wiki definition of what a surveyor is/does?

The part about "Party Chief and Interment operator" has me a little concerned.

How long has INTERMENT which is ...

the act or ritual of interring or burying been a part of surveying?

Noticed leveling was apart of work brief, but the level was missing in action from instrument proficiency...

If any one chasing this employment "opportunity" warning bells should be CLANGING !!!

This is called delegation. Someone, who should have known better, told the newhire office clerk to put an ad out to hire some help. When asked how to do this, the boss said, "You'll figger it out."

I made that mistake once.

In my defense, they both do dig holes. 😉

I do not recall any english composition questions on any of the LS tests I wrote. I've met plenty of PLS's who couldn't string a sentence together to save their lives. And yet we wonder why the profession has a hard time breaking the perception that it is no more than a trade.

What is the Distinction?

Norman,

What is the distinction between Trade and Profession? Is a Party Chief a Tradesman or Professional? Is it the difference of License? University Degree?

While there are many people with advanced degrees in the arts earning their living in a trade, there are few, if any, people who would generally be considered professionals who have not mastered at least the rudiments of english composition. Making allowance for ESL issues.

They did say "on, above, and below the Earth's surface"

Maybe they are hiring a surveyor to layout a cemetery.

There was no mention of an LS to supervise the "Party Chief / Land Surveyor/ Intsterment Man" (should be operator). It only mentions a technician.
I would not advertise for a party chief. You could get all kinds of responses for party planners (or chef's who can't spell).
