Cool find! I love old maps....

The DNR was at a conference a few years ago; they were giving away ALL of their USGS quad maps. I think they had the WHOLE state. The pile was wittled down pretty good, by the end. I took home all that remained plus all of the ones I had picked out, over 400.

I see you're about 60 miles east of Sutton; hope you fared well last night, in the midst of all that weather...

Basically 1 chance at getting them and then they are scrapped.

Something tells me the gov. is interested in cashing in on the enormous stockpile of copper they have been sitting on.
I'm sure it is published somewhere, but how many 1:24,000 quad maps did USGS publish?

#maps x #revisions x 37.5lbs x $2.50/lb = A staggering amount of money. I wonder if they are selling ALL of the engravings? I was told the engravings were stored in a warehouse in Colorado.

The wayback machine

Remember old stores and restaurants that had stamped metal ceilings. Gave a common building a really elegant appearance.

Imagine using these engravings to do something similar on walls and ceilings. Walls adjacent to where customers sit for a period of time would be an exceptional use.

The wayback machine

I have seen those stamped tin ceilings at older bars. Pretty cool in my opinion. You could solder these engravings together like stained glass.
