I know this is a dumb question but two sites in the past week have had to be re-calibrated because the autobase station location seems to think it is in a new location. The elevations are way off also (-380 ft).
The LAT difference is 3.624 seconds and LONG difference is 3.4021 seconds. Any suggestions on what may be happening?
I reloaded the original calibration file thinking it may have become corrupted but that wasn't it either.
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

What make/model Base Station? If it's an MS750 I might be able to help...
Just guessing, is it a Trimble SPS851 or 855?
Did you try just restarting the base with the original point and coordinates?
We have had problems with the base forgetting the point it was on the day before or getting just enough difference in autonomous position that it doesn't think it's on the right point.
The easiest way of solving the problem if nobody is around with a data collector is just to enter the lat long height into the receiver. But then you have no way of checking a control point until a surveyor shows up.

It is Trimble equipment , I think its the newer ones. I did reenter the lat/long but it doesn't work.
Are you picking up someone else's base station?
this smacks of TDD...

Still remember that post by ole TDD.
Call me if you have a minute to discuss what you are thinking. 803-367-3991
I punchmark the traverse points so this doesn't happen to me.
:good: :-O o.O :-X
The base is located on a permanent post so I know the position hasn't changed.
This happens to us also.
I have learned the hard way NEVER accept an autobase prompt.
It's always off just a little.
Then we have to go back to SETUP BASE, and choose it from the list of control points and everything is OK.

So do I. How funny. How long it has taken for the GPS world to finally notice that the earth is off its axis. :'(
If you can find out which model it is, I would like to know. We have several of the SPS 851's and a couple of the 985's and have never had that problem (yet). It either works right or says "Autobase Failed".
