Has anyone used the Carlson RT3 Ruggedized Tablet and SurvPC software with GPS and Total Station equipment?
The screen on our Carlson Surveyor + is going out. We need to make a decision on a new Data Collector.
Sold a few. Sold a number of the Topcon version of the hardware, the FC-5000. SurvPC works quite well on it. You would already know the layout of the software because SurvPC is virtually identical to SurvCE.

I don't like to hear that. How old is your Surveyor+, and has it been subject to harsh treatment? I'd like to think that mine still has a lot of years left in it.

There are gray lines forming down the sides of the screen. You can kinda see through the lines, but it seems its slowly getting worse. Had it about 6 years. Have crawled through some rough terrain with it, but I don't think that has any impact on this problem.
I've seen the Carlson Surveyor 2 totally lose its hard drive. Won't boot at all. Several collectors.
So looking for something else.

Been using the RT3 for my sokkia robotic. Really useful for its large readable screen in the day light. Also the wet touch profile does work in the rain, however trying to change the setting when the screen is wet is a b**ch. Using the GSM/GPS model with the extended battery. Really useful when I need to download data from office on the fly. I also attach a bluetooth keyboard and mouse so when out in the field I can send emails or check some dwgs.

We have a surveyor 2 and an RT3. The rt3 will run circles around the surveyor2. It took my crew and myself a few months to get the hang of it rather than the standard data collector. Sending emails on the fly is great if the crews are on the road and I need a file or need to look at something for them. I can also remote into it and see the screen if they are having problems with something.
