Saw this one on a 1968 plat. Pretty descriptive for the time, but wouldn't pass muster these days! At least he said what he set.

N.W. COR.
FD. A FEW ROCKS
SET 5/8" PIN

Sounds like any old time I find a few rocks in the approximate area of a section corner I better remonument!

Made me smile anyways.

Yeah, I don't think I'd be too happy with the crew if they brought in that description. Admittedly, however, it is funny. 😀

There is alot missing in those notes.

I can think of a few places that when rocks are found, they were brought from miles away and may mean something.

In other places, it would depend upon what type of rock was found.

The note just needs to be rephrased:

Found: A well defined but dispersed mound of earth & stone at the Corner of Sections xx/xx/xx/xx, the centroid of which was monumented with a 5/8 inch diameter “pin” (which also needs more description).

By the way, there isn't a shortage of rocks in this entire county!
