There is a grid defined by letters and numbers: A-1 the NW section 6, A-25 the NE section 1, Z-1 the SW section 31, Z-25 the SE section 36, this grid covers all the corners in a regular twp to the 1/16ths.

I'm not familiar with Iowa law. Out here in the northwest we are generally only required to file on the Corners actually set in the original Survey. Sometimes that includes 16th Corners but usually not.
