I'm doing a topo of an old quarry with fill piles and cuts everywhere. The client would like me to give them a general topo of the site. I have seen notes on contour maps that state "contours are an interpretation of the actual elevations shot, when designing one should use the elevation shot and not the countour......".
Does anyone use this type of note and if so, would they like to share it for me?
Thanks
Here is what I use:
The Contours Shown Upon This Survey Were Created By Interpolation From Elevations Determined At Specific Locations Hereby Referred To As "Spot Shots". The Spot Shots Shown Upon This Survey Represent Only A Portion Of The Field Survey That Was Used To Interpolate The Contours. For Purposes If Clarity, All Of The Spot Shots Observed For This Survey Have Not Been Shown.
THANKS JOE
When I give contours they are only given at a contour interval that best represents the amount of detail I obtained.
And I make clarification of that in my drawing/ survey.
One problem with notations on plans is they can get erased, or omitted when past on to third parties.
I never show contours at an interval I wouldn't be confident with.
Here though it accepted that contours have there limitations.
Rather than making up a disclaimer, I'd suggest simply stating which standard was met for the preparation of the map.
