Does anyone have any experience working with them? We got an email from them today, I don't know if it's just me, but it sounds fishy.
Hey XXXX,
After a thorough review of your *Name of our company* account, I discovered we have a lot of projects in your area but you are not set up to bid them. I need a partner to contact these projects and I wanted to see if you're available to provide some estimates in the next week or two, give me a call at (xxx) xxx-xxxx.
I look forward to speaking with you

...Don't know how they review "our" account, since we've never been in contact with them before. That was what sent up the red flag. They're based out of Cali, which also seemed funny. A large firm across the country contacting a very small firm in PA.
Thanks in advance

Around here, ANY email from "Hobo Slim" sends up a red flag 😉
It is a clearing house type place, from what I understand, that the general public can go to have people "bid" on their particular projects.
I looked into it abut 5 years or so ago, when I first opened up. I never signed up. They wanted a monthly fee to send referrals to you for you to "bid" on. It appeared to be mostly residential work, which is fine, but the potential clients seemed to be shopping strictly on price alone.
I get emails from them all the time, and just delete them.

I cannot say with great confidence, but the name Hobo Slim seems a bit fishy.
Yeah, we S**t canned it. Didn't taste right from the get go and the input helped seal the deal.
The Hobo Slim name is what my dad's fmr. co-worker used to sign when the department head would mark up plans for changes. They would circle something in red ink and he would check it off and put "O.K. Hobo Slim" when he changed it.(others would put their proper initials.)
Thanks for all the input though guys.
- Hobo Slim 😛
I have been getting emails from ConstructionDeal.com for years, however they seemed more professional and are not signed "Hobo Slim". I consider it a form of wry amusement so I have not opted off their list.
I am in eastern PA and get requests for Delaware, New Jersey, New York and PA. At least they have a sense of where I am since none is more than 100 miles distant. About once a year one comes in that I would consider quoting had the property owner contacted me. My time doing background for the quote would probably exceed the time the low bidder takes on the survey. But to pay a fee just to bid against others is a guarantee of money leaving your pocket and nothing else.
