I've been using active sync to up/download data to my Nomad from my windows XP for years. Since moving to Windows 10 I have been having to download on the old computer and then using a USB stick to transfer data. What are you others in my situation doing? My cable is a USB to the proprietary Nomad lead. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't have a nomad but I'm sure it's the same as my ranger. I just connect via Bluetooth. Then I just click into the ranger icon and drag files back and forth. I'm not an automatic kind of guy, I like to do things myself

Ditto, I don't use the active part of sync, I drag and drop the files individually. My desktop computer does not have Bluetooth, so that method that you use wouldn't work for me. Thanks for the thought though.

Windows Mobile Device Center is what I use to connect my three Rangers with a USB cable.

I've got a Nomad that I've had since 2011 and I'm on second computer with Windows 10. I downloaded Windows 10 to the first computer, and my current computer came with it already loaded. I've not had any problems connecting. I plug the usb cable to the Nomad and it connects on its own without Active Sync.

Try fiddling with the settings on the Nomad.
Only way I can get my Allegro to WMDC is by disabling Advanced in the sync settings (think that's it) on the Allegro. Might need toggle it on off.
Seems to do the trick, but it's not as straight forward as Win 7 Pro.

I gave up on a cable connection for connecting my Surveyor+. I use a thumb drive, and it seems about as convenient.
