You know the old saying, ƒ??Use it or loose itƒ?? Yea, that definitely hit me square in the noggin.?ÿ I couldn't tell you the last time that I had to gather static data & process it through RINEX & OPUS, but this past week I decided that it was time that I tried it again to make sure I could still do it & guess what.....I can't.?ÿ The last time I did it these were the steps I followed (to the best I can remember):

  1. Collect the data (15' minimum for rapid static).
  2. Convert the .t02 file using RINEX, (v 2.10 or newer)
  3. Submit the observation file to OPUS
  4. Patiently wait for a little bit and tada, your results are emailed to you.

?ÿ

Well, I have tried this process several times and I keep getting an abort message from OPUS varying from "session too short; data taken from more than one location; data only contained values for a single frequency; RINEX file not formatted correctly; & one of the lines in the RINEX file is over 80 characters" all depending on which version of RINEX I used (v2.10, 2.11, 3.02, 3.03, or 3.04).

I know that I have let far too much time pass by without staying up on this, and I am probably missing a current step, or not using the proper RINEX conversion (or more current conversion software).?ÿ Any help with this procedure will be greatly appreciated.?ÿ

I am using a Trimble TSC7 & a Trimble R12i.?ÿ I have tried collecting the data both in the unit and on the collector, and converting both a .T02 file and a .T04 file.?ÿ All of my sessions have been for 20 minutes.

Did you start it as a base?

If you use rover measure points it puts kinematic observations in the file.

I connect to the receiver in base mode then start Faststatic using the style correctly edited.

There is a bit to unpack here. You have a TSC7 and an R12i. The latest and greatest Trimble has to offer. You must also have TBC. If you have TBC processing is all hands free. I believe the last time I converted a Trimble file to RInex was maybe 5-10 years ago when OPUS stopped processing .dat files. As far as I know they still accept .T files.?ÿ

Also when you download the .T02 or .T04 file into TBC you have a check box that will automatically send the file to be processed for you through Trimble's service. If you want OPUS there is a pull down box that let's you send it to OPUS hands free, all you do is type in an email address which usually shows up as your email anyway.?ÿ?ÿ

Or you can quickly do what I normally do and process the static file yourself using local CORS.?ÿ

If you don't have TBC you still shouldn't need to convert the file, if you aren't getting a response from OPUS you may not have a long enough file.?ÿ

Convert the .t02 file using RINEX, (v 2.10 or newer)

You need to clarify here what tool you used to convert TO RINEX.?ÿ You didn't use something called RINEX to do the conversion.

You can look at a RINEX file with a text editor (best not to use a word processor) and maybe get hints as to the problem.

I've always found OPUS error messages to be vague and sometimes mis-diagnosed, so not as helpful as they could be in pinning down the problem.

Possibly it is as simple as sending sub 2hr sessions to OPUS and not to OPUS-Rapid Static. Either that, or with using OPUS-Rapid Static you sometimes have to wait a day or more until there is enough CORS data available to it to make a solution.

Also, you didn't mention selecting your antenna type in OPUS.

I think if you wait a couple/few days after collecting the data before you submit it to OPUS, that might help?

My favorite way to process Trimble static data outside of TBC (which uses this site under the hood):

https://surveytools.trimbleaccess.com/gnssprocessor

Send it to OPUS, RTX-PP, or CSRS.

No need to convert to RINEX, that is all done under the hood.

(I like RTX for shorter sessions, as it is full-constellation and can use up to 1Hz data. Just be aware that RTX-PP has not implemented HTDP, so to transform from ITRF to NAD83 you will need to either drop it into a TBC project, where HTDP has been implemented, or transform yourself.)

(Edit to add: the only downside is that if you are wanting to customize your OPUS input, this site does not give you those options...)

Sending a static file really isnƒ??t processing as in your title. That is NGS processing your one point.?ÿ

Upload the *.**o file to OPUS.?ÿ Rapid Static solution won't happen until about 24 hrs after collecting.?ÿ
