i got a surveyor plus that's not 3yrs old and here lately the batteries show that they are low. i charge them and the charger has a green light like they are full. i take the ones out of the collector and trade with charged batteries and the collector says they are low. put the ones from the collector in the charger and the full charge green light comes on in like ten seconds. so...prob is the charger says they are charged and when i put them in the collector they say not full. what i did by mistake was a couple weeks ago i took batteries out without turning off the collector. after that this issue starts. does anybody know if i may have damaged anything by taking batts out while unit is on? or any problems with battery like this?

thanks

I don't think you've necessarily damaged anything while removing the batteries while the unit is/was powered on but it could be a simple matter of the battery calibration needing to be re-set. The Juniper Systems Knowledgebase for the Surveyor+ has some good articles and the Battery pack will not charge to full article might solve the problem.

We have 3 Carlson Plus data collectors, and one night one of them didnt get charged but the other two did. The one I wanted to take had the Robotic software unlocked. I took the batteries out of one that was charged put it in the uncharged one, but it didnt want to turn on. So I switched the batteries back, took the data collector that was charged and a non robotic total station. I put the uncharged on charged and it has worked fine since then.

We have two batteries in each data collector and they go all day over 8 hours some days not sure how long they will last since I never had one die on me, I heard 12 hours. You can buy a car charger for the data collector, but they really only helps if the first job takes awhile to drive to.

Good call on the 2 batteries. I just bought a second battery for mine. 1 battery did not last long enough.

When the battery question "How much charge does the battery have?" comes into play, answer 10% and let the software figure it out and the charging should return to normal.

I get the message after replacing the battery in my Juniper Allegro. and was told to always answer with 10% and the program will kick in to fully charge the battery and will remind to recharge when it gets down to 10%.

Did you check and make sure both batteries are installed correctly? We charge them with the data collector, just plug in the charger into the data collector with 110 Volt not with the USB.

Also do you turn the screen off? there is a setting where you can have the screen turn off anywhere from 1 to 5 mins. It wont get a full charge if the screen is left on.

the dc is set to turn off but it turns on and off...i'm plugging it in with ac adapter to back.
bats are in right way.
i suppose they are really charged cause it's been on like a day and half and still not out - not using but used about 2hrs today and it's still on and i set the screen to stay on last night.

i saw that routine to reset the bats (take them out with it plugged in, etc.) - i'll do that when they drain...
i left it plugged in over a day a couple back and it went straight to 1 bat bar when unplugged.

-thanks for all the help!
