I see they have released the supervisor but I have not seen any forsale. Does anybody know where to buy these things?
Does anyone own one? What you think?
Is the economy so bad, that Carlson is now selling off excess programmers, called supervisors? Well, if so, they could learn to survey, and thus write even better software!

Watchewtalkinboutwillis?
i demoed one at the SAMSOG conference last week. they are slick. window 7 platform. wifi, 3g modem, BT, sub meter GPS and camera built in. they also have the option of putting the carlson survey grade GPS board in the unit. all you would have external would be your rod and a light weight BT antenna atop the pole. very cool.
price tag loaded with software was about $5k. or about $15k with the survey grade GPS.
5K is a little much in this market, the thing looks and sounds great... but I would like to see the torture test like they did with the surveyor on you tube.
That's a really neat system. I imagine that Paul Carlson at Carlsonds.com can get one for you.
However, that is the about the same price that we paid for the Panasonic Toughbooks that we use loadedwith Carlson Field as data collectors. Toughbook advantages arelarger screen and a real QWERTY keyboard. It is a bigger unit to carry around, but our field crews don't seem to mind. Tie in bluetooth and GPS capabilities and they seem to be happy.
Either way will work just fine. Give Paul a call and see what he can do. He is a Carlson College member and can help you out a lot with any of your Carlson questions.
Pin,
Shoot me an email if you have any specific questions regarding the unit(bblack@sidwellco.com). We have had a demo unit for about a year now and put it through quite a few tests/demos.

I demoed the supervisor at Optical a few weeks back, and 5k does seem like a steep price to pay, BUT if streamlines everything. It really does empower the user to not only collect but to comp and stake with Carlson Survey on-board. And with the dual GPS engine that gives a 98% confidence level it is very powerful. It is very nice. I could think of a thousand things you could do in the field without having to first go to the office. The downside is that it cuts down on manpower needs. It transforms party chiefs into something else.
WOW is all I can say. Possibly that is my next data collector. I believe that a WELL designed DC is the key to productivity.
