S.M. would be Square Meters. That would give you an area in Hacktaters.:-|

It has the same quanity of square feet and when I covert it from square meters to acres it is really off.

I checked the area defaults and not setting in there.

I'm making revisions to a subdivision plan I prepared using my old comptuer and a older version of Cralson.

Thanks

I don't have Carlson on this computer, but you probably have the correct "checkbox" set for Square Feet to be calculated, but you probably have a text output box filled in with "S.M". This is so that you can enter in your locales most common type of abbreviation. Some where you enter into a box S.F. or Sq. Ft. or SQ. FT. or whatever.
Same thing with acreage. There is a box you can enter in your favorite output. AC., Ac., Acre, Acres, etc.

Try that.

If I am right in thinking you are

using the legal description writer that runs a polygon out and provides a written description based on the linework -

when the legal description box comes up on screen, I have a bunch of settings that can be altered at the bottom of that box. They are a series of tabs that when chosen allow you to do what Mr. Correll was discussing (place your preferred abbreviations in the output).

Type ''UNITS'' On The Command Line

Check that you are in Decimal.

Check that "Drag and Drop" is set to unitless.

Autocad is unitless by default, 1 = 1 = 1.

"UNITS" is how it reports what is after the digits; 1.000m, 1.00' or 1'-0", but not the unit itself.

There may be times you want Square Meters if you are an engineer, AutoCAD does not judge.

Next go to the "Area" pulldown, choose area defaults, make sure there is a 1 in front of the Sq. Feet, and nothing in front of the Sq. Met.

Now try it.

The first thing I would check would be Settings -- Drawing Setup to make sure the Scale value is English.

go to "area/layout" and in the dialog box that comes up select "sq.ft." and "acres" from the box on the left and then hit the add button. Both should end up in the box on the right. Might want to select "sq.meters" and hit remove as well....hope that's what your looking for.

Like MSCHICK said above, go there, then click on ACRES, in the USED FIELDS box, and you will get more settings... how many decimal places, what font to use, and other useful stuff.

I guess i should have given credit to Nate as i asked the same question a while back on the "other site we do not speak of" and He was nice enough to enlighten me with the answer. Just want the real credit to go to whom it belongs! Thanks Nate.;-)

Thanks, MSChick. I don't keep track well of who gets credit very well, but I do remember what works!

Somebody else helped me, and I don't remember who. I thought you were the person that helped me.

Ok, on to the next problem... where can I find a good wheelbarrow?

🙂

Nate
