Curious as to how Carlson handles large coordinates in the database?
In fact how does Carlson with the latest IntelliCad 7.2 engine behave?

I run Microsurvey and 2013 is not my best of friends by any means.
I was told that our (Australian) grid coordinates don't function so well in MsCad.
Typical here is 450000E, 5450000N.

Field Genius also suffered from similar large coordinate syndrome. I think that maybe fixed now.

Another highly annoying, to the point of making serious work useless, is the way the screen loses itself and one has to constantly regenerate the screen. This is a known issue.
Then there are geo (tiffs in my case) images! Just will not accept them.

So in light of that wondering how the opposition using same latest IntelliCad engine performs?

I'm not running the Intellicad version yet, but those I know that are running it report no problems with large coordinate values. Most everyone is running on GPS based control on our local state plane coordinate system that has values of around 250,000E, 2,500,0000N.
For a survey firm, Carlson Survey is very hard to beat. Tie it to your data collectorf with Carlson Field or SurvCE and you have some nice tools to work with.
Carlson Survey also has absolutely no problems with inserting tiff images. I do that many times every day and have had no problems with it.

early release of Carlson Survey 2013 over Icad 7.2 had issues with images. That seems to be resolved now. No problems with coordinate values. I do have to regen sometimes to get drawing aid artifacts out of the way, and sometimes I have to pick some place randomly on the screen for the regen to work. Kind of annoying. Most of the initial annoyances have been resolved. Now I'm waiting for drawing a line by ORTHO to work properly. Probably the only production issue I have.

I bailed on 7 pretty quick , think it got released too soon. Version 6.5 was very stable . 7 and the regen thing is crazy. Moving from microsurvey will not fix your problems with intellicad .

That's interesting. I haven't been comfortable with Intellicad in Microsurvey. The combination of Cad and survey options never gave smooth work flows.
I gave up on using it for Cad and bought Bricscad.
That has been so stable and has a greater range of Cad options that work.
But I still need surveying routines so have persisted with MsCad. But the latest really is a lame duck.

At least I know it appears to be the latest version of Intellicad that is similar across the board.

I tried out the Autocad version of MsCad and the comparisons were immediate. Maybe should have bitten the bullet and bought into that.

Bottom line, if drawing performance is an issue for you I think that you aught to bight the bullet and go with the ACAD embedded version, at least.

I have noticed a significant lag in the intelicad versions, loading is slower..in fact everything seems slower. I have run side by side comparisons and it is a large difference. I also noticed that my linetypes are all displaying as a solid line, they look fine in the acad version but not in the Icad...

ICad command viewres change the default 100 to 500 or 1000 and your lines will look better.
