Hello,
our company recently switched our cell phones all over to iphone6. Before we used to send text files or .survey files via bluetooth from the phone to the data collector but now with the iphone i cant get it to work for the life of me. first of all there is no "send via bluetooth" option from the email app which basically eliminates doing this via the iphone alone. then i started trying a few APPS to accomplish this with no luck until finally i realized that my iPhone will not even pick up the Ranger in the bluetooth menu. what i have done to get by the is use the wifi hotspot and then use the email app on the ranger but it is a bit of a pain and now one of my crews has a nomad with no wifi so i need to figure out a solution.
anyone have any luck file sharing between the two?
Thanks!
Not sure about the 6, but the older I-Phones did not support sending data files over Bluetooth. It was mainly for hands free purposes.
When we as a society rejected Blackberry, all useful and productive ideas like that went away...we rejected smartphones as a business tool, and embraced them as mass entertainment...
Wait, have I drifted into the dreaded P&R area?
Ya i am starting to think i made a big mistake. all of the things i did 5 years ago on my blackberry with ease are nothing but hassle 5 years later on these iPhone which are supposed to be USER FRIENDLY. I guess if you want to watch you-tube all day they are.
iphones have never used BT that way.

Nope...just registering a ten on the Old Man Scale 😉
Yes, the iPhone has never been a very good work phone as far as sharing files goes.
Can't even copy the files to a external storage device as far as I know.
The iCloud, Dropbox type apps, and e-Mail are the only options.
There are modern BB's available, been running a BB Z10 full glass screen for a couple years now, I have an iPhone 4 for work and hardly ever touch it anymore because the BB is just a better phone for everything but maybe entertainment, just saying you don't have to fall into the iPhone way of life.

I use this combination of equipment and was able to save files to a Dropbox folder.
I used the iPhone to see files in Dropbox and then used the phone as a hotspot so the Ranger could access the internet and grab the files.
Sometime last fall Dropbox changed and Windows Mobile devices could no longer use Dropbox. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Have you tried this?:

Not sure it will talk directly to the instrument, but there are "sister apps" for Windows, Android etc.
:good:
