My boss and I want to get an RH17 to replace the Parani's on my Leica 1200. Unfortunately they don't seem very easy to come by. A couple survey supply places in the states did not list Canada as a shipping option. eBay has like 2 available, one is in the UK. Any advice?
Try looking for the RH16, my understanding is the RH16 is the North American model.?ÿ Mine works great on a 1200.
I have to wonder why they are not available in Canada. Could it be a radio spectrum issue, rendering them illegal to use in the Great White North? Soooo ... I'd be really careful about buying things that your dealer isn't supporting. Could turn into a real hassle.
Sorry I should have specified, I was rushing when I posted this. I am looking for one or the other. They both seem to be in short supply. I was watching this one, bidding was at 600 or so yesterday, sold in the middle of the night for this..
?ÿ
Well the Leica dealer is willing to let me try it on my 1200 to test the range....it's just they they don't sell them separately anymore. Probably so you will buy a new ts16 or TS13 etc.?ÿ
I've seen them on a couple newer Leica robots. Technically the 1200 is end of life, so no official support, however the sales guy is being supportive because that's how you get future or repeat sales.?ÿ
They work fine if you have the latest firmware on the 1200.?ÿ I just used mine with a CS20 a couple of weeks ago.?ÿ
I just updated the firmware 2 days ago just for this purpose. The only downside I noticed with the new firmware is the electronic level bubble is very laggy now which it wasn't before.?ÿ
Have looked into the GeoMax ZRT82??ÿ It's the radio handle used on my Zoom80, and appears to be the same as a Leica RH.?ÿ I expect that Mark Silver can tell you whether or not it would work, and whether or not he can get you one.
I haven't looked into that. It's possible the firmware is different but I'll check into that. Thanks ???
