Looks like my radio for the Trimble 5600 is on the fritz.?ÿ There are two outlets, one leads to the data collector the other leads to the RMT.?ÿ The one that leads to the RMT doesn't carry any power so I'm not in robotic but I can remotely communicate with the instrument but the robot doesn't recognize the RMT.?ÿ So how do I fix this??ÿ Is there a simple fix to the outlet??ÿ Or how about if I get a cable built that T's off the good outlet so that one outlet operates both the RMT and the Data Collector??ÿ Or is there an alternative to the radio...Parani??ÿ Thanks for any and all replies.?ÿ

All the RMT needs is power a very pure and steady 12v and the regulator in the radio does this.?ÿ You can just split the power off in your situation.?ÿ You could probably split off all four, but, I am not as sure with Tx and Rx.?ÿ As long as the radio works, ... use it.?ÿ I would start placing together a Parani package mentally, if you are going to keep it running or eventually place in back up

thanks for the reply.  I went out today and got it to work by attaching a separate battery to the RMT.

I'm kind of curious though, do you know what the instrument follows?  It certainly isn't the prism, it must follow the LED's.  It will follow any LED?  Or is there something else involved?

Unfortunately, I found that it isn't as simple as attaching a battery.  It does prove proof of concept, so, wiring power from the radio will definitely work.  The LED's only blink correctly at 12 volts exactly and a non regulated battery would start much higher and end much lower

Side note--is your pole battery 3d shape still available for purchase?  I cannot seem to find it in your Shapeways survey link.

@jaccen

I never placed them on Shapeways because of cost.  The few I printed were before they changed their pricing to increase large volume printing cost.  Basically, you can fit a lot of small more profitable prints in the same space as one battery case.  They are currently at $160 each to print on Shapeways.  I have many printers now and can print some for a lot less.  PM me if interested
