Contact Arkansas Society of Professional Surveyors. I believe that they may have some materials as well.

If I remember correctly, here was a Law book that I bought either from ASPS or the State Board. I don't remember it being the book that Dan mentions above, but that one may be a newer version or a replacement for the one I am thinking about. I am out of town now, and can't look on the bookshelf.

Good Luck.

Do you mean the state specific test? If so you need a copy of both the state rules and laws along with the Minimum Standards. These are online at AR State Board of Licensure.

About half the test will come from those two documents. Then you'll have some proportion questions, PLSS basics, and convergence, etc.

Good luck!

Jimmy,
The 'Law' book you mention is:
Legal Principles of Boundary Location for Arkansas
by Elgin & Knowles, 1984
ISBN 0-9-1084-14-X

I believe it is out of print but the Commissioner of State Lands sold a CD version back in 2006. The PLSS book I mentioned was presented last week at the ASPS Short Course. Dr. Elgin used it in his "PLS Exam Review Course".

The Arkansas Agriculture Department
Land Survey Division
also has these two wonderful additions to your reference library:

Handbook for Arkansas Land Surveyors
5th Edition - 2010

and

A Compendium of the Arkansas Code as Related to Professional Surveyors
(Copied from: "Arkansas Code of 1987, Updated August 7, 2009)

You can access the online Arkansas Code here:
http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assembly/2011/2011R/Pages/Home.aspx
Under the Arkansas Law tab you will find a link for the Code and the State Constitution of 1874.

Arkansas PS exam

I highly recomend that you learn how to break down a section in Arkansas. We are a little bit different from everyone except Missouri. I too the test last year to help determine the cut score for pass of fail. If an old surveyor can pass it without a calculator, you young guys should not have any problems.

The books that Dan mentioned should help you a lot. I also recomend one of the review courses similar to the one that ASPS put on last week. If you know your stuff, the test is not problem. If you don't know your stuff, you are in for a long afternoon.

Good Luck!
