We are looking at purchasing some equipment from a firm that is out of state. We are in Texas, while the firm is in Florida. Notwithstanding the fact that we can't get a hands on demo of the equipment, we are also trading in some equipment. I'd like to know how reputable the firm is or how well they are with returns/repairs. I don't want to list the name of the company here, so any help would be best through email. My email is on file here.

Sorry for the vagueness of this post, but I don't want to start a thread where a company gets bashed due to some hard feelings.

I understand your concerns. There are MANY reputable firms in Florida and hopefully this is one of them.

Distance seems to be an issue for you. You need a company closer that can demo products and help you with any burps you may run into. I can recommend:

http://www.neigps.com/ they are in Louisiana

and

http://www.geotx.com/ they are in Texas

Check them out for the products you are looking for, comparable pricing and support after sales. Both of these firms have outstanding product support.

I've got a quote from geotex.com and have taken a class from it's owner.

I'm not that concerned about the support per se since the purchase will be a duplication of the equipment we already have. The people who control the purse strings is a bit apprehensive about some terms of the deal and want a bit of reassurance that they can be trusted. Forging a new business relationship is hard when the distance between the two companies is so great.

I appreciate your help just the same.

The State convention is 2mos away and all the latest and greatest will be available for view and maybe a hands on in the Exhibit hall.

I hope to be there.......

I'm guessing by your words that you're a Leica man.

Then that would be FLT, if so, they are very reputable.

As a fellow Texan and surveyor, give Geoshack a call.

I have nothing but the highest praise for their support and service.

The San Antonio branch has bailed me out a few times when I was desperate and at a fair price.
