I spent the afternoon beginning work on assembling the complete abstracts of title for several parcels from the original grants by the State of Texas in 1847 unto the present and quite early on ran across one of those ingenious individuals who shaped early Texas, Jacob De Cordova, a noted land agent and entrepreneur.

The bio sketch for Jacob Raphael De Cordova in "The Handbook of Texas" gives some idea of his career.
