So a client walked into the office and asked for an easement to be located and written, it is about 1-1/2 mile long cutting through three pieces of property, we looked at the info on the county GIS and I gave him a price.
Now it's time to dig into it, gather up all the legals and plot the property,,,,,,,,,,,
Well the county maps has the terminating property incorrectly plotted by 3/4 of a mile.
Now we have a road 3/4 mile longer than I thought and I just wonder how this land is being sold, not my problem, we aren't surveying it for sale, only for the easement, but wow!!!
did you ask for a "do over" on the bid? What was the client's reaction when you told them? surprised or"you're just now figuring that out" ?

Oh, no, but I did meet with the county on another issue, and I let them know the GIS was funky there.
They didn't seem to care, till I let them know it pulled the state land 1/2 mile north, so it's that far off from reality on the map.
Then they would have hunters out there shooting game on the wrong property, and of course saying "hey, I used the maps" that got their attention, particularly after the city lost the court case over the "GIS disclaimer"
As far as the job goes, it's done, out the door and billed, hit the number almost exactly. B-)
For once.
Told the client about the mapping, he wanted a rough idea what it would cost for me to make a nice map showing record acreages, lost interest when I told him...........
