Does the cs30 not have a water mode like most other tablets? My biggest issue with the Panasonic fz-m1 was that it was that the sensitivity was very low so you had to be very forceful with presses and a stylus was unreliable in the rain mode while raining.?ÿ

@350rocketmike It is supposed to have a glove mode that helps out in the rain.?ÿ I had to flash new screen drivers and then load an executable to change modes.?ÿ It just did not seem to work on the CS I was demoing.?ÿ The real problem is trying to find anyone, even at Leica, with any experience with the CS30 to see if the fix is actually working.?ÿ I need to replace my messed up CS20, which I can do for around $5k or spend $7k to get the CS30 with the additional kit I would need.?ÿ As strange as it sounds, I like the damn thing enough to contemplate the shower cap idea.

As for your stylus not working in rain mode, have you looked into an active stylus.?ÿ They are not really 'active' but use a battery mimic the conductivity of your fingers so you can use them with gloves.?ÿ That might help with the sensitivity issue.?ÿ The things you find when researching capacitive screen on the internet.?ÿ

Glove mode is the opposite, it makes it extra sensitive. If you breathe moistly it will sense a touch in glove mode.?ÿ

I haven't tried an active stylus as we're now past glove season and I have to eventually stop using the Leica and switch completely to the Trimble setup. Hoping the update from last night helps some of the glitches I've been having.?ÿ

That is what I thought and saw.?ÿ But that was what Leica said to use.?ÿ I'm still trying to get in touch with someone there that has a more definitive answer.

As for the active stylus, that would eliminate the need for a glove mode.

Think the active stylus (like Samsung's s pen) is the answer to several problems with capacitive tablet screens that need to be used in field in all conditions.

  1. In the wet the screen will be set to only pick up the pen.
  2. In the cold you can wear whatever gloves you want.
  3. You can stop carrying a paper field book for notes as can use stylus and a notes app on the tablet.

Basically like the Samsung Tab Active 3, however that model doesn't have sufficient battery life to last a day in field.

I always had to use water mode on the Panasonic toughpad. With the tsc5 and now tsc7 (tsc5 got returned) I looked for water mode and it didn't have it. However it seems to do okay in the amount of rain I'm comfortable with using the robot in.?ÿ
