We're being asked to do an ALTA survey of 200 acres out of about 700 that are being leased to our client. I've never done a partial ALTA or a Lease Area ALTA Survey before. Do you call it an "ALTA Survey of a Portion of XXXX", "An ALTA Survey of area to be leased by XXXX on lands of XXXX"? Will doing a partial survey of the overall property even meet the ALTA requirements? This is in NYS. They said they do this is other states.

It would be an ALTA survey of the lands described in the commitment. I have done a few on lease areas that were much smaller than the parent parcel or parcels. I would survey the whole thing if the commitment described the whole property.
Here's what the standards say.
- The remainder of any recorded lot or existing parcel, when the surveyed property is composed of only a portion of such lot or parcel, shall be graphically depicted. Such remainder need not be included as part of the actual survey, except to the extent necessary to locate the lines and corners of the surveyed property, and it need not be fully dimensioned or drawn at the same scale as the surveyed property.
