Another interesting item is that accountants are taught to detect transposition errors using division by 9. For an example read Business Dictionary's entry on Transposition Error. I have tracked down a number of survey data recording errors using this method. You must allow for your precision of measurement in surveying. However, once an apparent error is detected this will help find a location that may need to be observed again.
