Is the Focus30 basically the same gun as the 5600-Series? I swear I remember reading something a while back (possibly on here) that pointing to a 360 prism was originally an issue with the early model 5600s, but that after a while they fixed it with a firmware update.

The reason I ask: I ran a 5600 for years and never had a pointing issue using a 360 prism, and even tried testing it a few times. I was a little surprised after we purchased a S6 to see that pointing with the MT1000 was an issue. I assumed that if they could handle it with the old technology they would have it figured out in the new tech as well.

Alan,

Interesting. I was wondering if the S6 was able to compensate, not only horizontally, but vertically, as well. Looks like not.

have you tried that at 30' ?
I am wondering if it sees the prisms all together at that distance.
I think at 30' it will see them individually and flick from one to the other giving errors up to about 5mm with one like the first one in the top post.

There is a difference in elevation with the Leica version of the prism. As others have said the yellow arrow facing at the instrument makes a difference of 0.03'. We found this out the hard way. If the arrow is facing the instrument it is the correct height, if the arrow is facing the rod holder it is off in the vertical by 0.03'. You can actually see this looking perpendicular to the prism and trying to measure a rod height manually.
