I ran property line in 1994 along the north line of Sections 16 and 17 and needed to tie the N1/4 of Section 18 to run a bit of line into the east ROW of a county road.?ÿ
Now I need to run line along the west side of the county road, the south and west lines of Section 7 which I located in 1994 and the N-S centerline of Sec 18. So I block the 94 drawing into the 2019 drawing and check the dimension between the corner at the N1/4 of Section 18 and the NE corner of 16.
GPS using SPC 83: N89d32'07" Ground distance-1365.14'.
SPC 27 tied to a nearby 27 monument and an AZ mark: N89d33'21", 1365.10'.
Looks like everything should check well when I go out tomorrow.?ÿ
Thread title says 'versus'. What I want to know is, which brand/method is wrong, eh?
It's not my 4/hunnerts but, it's sumbodys. I'm betting against the gps... got to be rounding issues. ?????ÿ
Went out yesterday and checked the N1/4 of 18 again with an R10 unit, it was .04' from the R8 location, so the Topcon was right. ????
The bad result was when running line west to the NW Section corner, we were .4' off, all in the easting so didn't have to adjust the line. I figure that old brass cap isn't real stable, it sticks up over a foot and leans a bit. But still, .4' was a bit much.
The answer is, of course, that nothing beats an GTS300.
