Well the last time....

Yeah...

I suspect that no person the face of this earth will ever live to see survey or land title nirvana.

Steve

thanks Steve - now have a better understanding of your system.

Here we don't establish a landowners boundary as such. Rather we establish the cadastral boundaries of the area to deteremine the landowners boundaries if you get my drift.
I have no preference to any one title or lot boundaries but must be satisfied that all boundaries meet/ fit and are satisfied to exactness, and no one is either advantaged or disadvantaged, depending on which side of the fence you are.
Its only fair to mention we do have our 'gaps' and overlaps' but they are sorted out by us surveyors and the mess corrected to all landowners agreement. We generally don't have a problem there as we are looked upon as the custodion of the cadaster or those in the know.
Obviously if this is high rise inner city developed area and there is encroachment thats when it gets interesting and possibly involves legal beavers.

I don't envy your job over there.

Kent - my apologies this should have been in a new thread way back. My goof!!

No apologies are in order, Richard. The general question of why there is more boundary confusion in some localities than in others is pretty much connected.
