This I thought was interesting work - not your everyday topo- I really never paid attention to the large 18 wheeler truck service centers on the side of the highway- this is inside of one of the wash bays.
our client is needing some redesign on the water/oil separator bins that you see on the right of this picture
apparently, the system is not working properly- we had to go in and shoot the bay area, drain inlets, top and bottoms of each bin, flowlines of the 12" pvc pipes connecting bins. One bin was full of some really nasty stuff, about 4 feet deep of sludge-One of my guys was going to attempt to walk along a 4" ledge between bins to get an invert- pulled out my iphone hoping he was going to go swimming- 🙂

he decided that it probably wasn't a good idea:-)

Don't know about today but when I was driving you could get an acid bath for the trailer and aluminum wheels, really make them shine. Had wash bays but the washing and acid baths were done using hand held wands and then a quick wipe down by hand. Most of us thought 20 bucks was to much so washed our own trucks.

R-Verrrrrrrrrry Interesting !

A few ?s if I may.....

1] was the bay out of square so an instrument was needed ?

2] First look at pics was OMG !! What if the legs collapse ?

Your colleague trying to make like a spider needs stickier hand pads and a greater lessness in girth to try and dance on a 4" ledge without any floatation gear.

Cheers,

Derek
