I've recently discovered/figured out the "TEXTMASK" routine on my Carlson 2010 w/ICAD.

Now, my question is: How many do you have on a typical drawing? I do a lot of hatching, so I've got quite a few (75~100). Does this seem typical? And why can't I drag a corner of the mask and adjust it? Mine disappears. That is frustrating. So, for some centered multi-line text I have several masks on top of each other... Is THAT normal? Just a few questions from a utilitarian user.

Carl

Turn your frames on to edit them. As far as text in hatched areas, select the text as part of the hatch boundary/objects and it will hatch around the text.

Alternatively, select the text and turn on the background. I don't do any masks, and backgrounds are avoided if possible; sounds like you use more hatching than I do though.

Had to figure this out just this week, what you need to do is turn all layers off except what you plan to wipeout. say it is a text. then leave the text layer on and use that layer to show the frames of the wipeout.

then type WIPEOUT... then type FRAMES.... then type ON....
(this will show the frames edge of whatever is being masked.)

then use the wipeout command to mask your selected items.

once you are finished you need to highlight the entire area and select...BRING TO FRONT under the view tab.

Then turn all the layers you need on

now you need to go back and turn you FRAMES ... OFF

and wala your done. maybe that wasnt to confusing and that will help you out.

I will try this with another drawing, but I think this may do the trick. I have some issues with the offsets, and certain fonts cause problems, not to mention if it is single or multi-line text. But, I WILL figure it out!!!

Thanks!!

I use the textmask and wipeout seldom. Only when I really need to. For some odd reason, if the dwg is converted to a .pdf, all of the wipeouts/masks plot out as a solid black box.

I had that problem. You have to make sure you put it on a separate layer and make the color of the wipeout/mask color 255, then it will print white. Make sure you stack the text right also. Text on top, then wipeout, then hatching and such on the bottom.
