So I need to get an OEM license of Windows 7 Pro for a computer of my son's. Does anyone have a legitimate download option for such a venture? I have found a few on the web, but am leery of using one without recommendation that it may be a trusted source.

Any success stories? Otherwise ordering on media is not out of the question.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I have had good luck with ebay and Amazon. Stick with high volume sellers and get unopened media. Sometimes I'll get my local computer guy to install starter versions and then obtain a cheap product key card to fully unlock the program. I have yet to depend on just a download for my major software components, but don't why not?

If you have Windows 7 (Home Premium), you have an "Anytime Upgrade" feature that makes it simple to perform the upgrade directly from Microsoft. I did it to my Home Premium version and did not encounter any problems. My version is 32 bit, but the 64 bit version should also be a snap. I think the cost was pretty reasonable, under $100 to do it. I am debating whether I want to do the upgrade to my 64 bit laptop Home Premium version also, if I deem it necessary.

Check out www.BuyCheapSoftware.com.

I've been using them for years and never had a problem.

Sorry to be late to the party. Microsoft provides free download links through their digital-river website.

Basically they don't care how you get the install media, as long as you have a legitimate license key for it. This also applies for windows 8.
