If you were asked to "view our GPS model in a UTM format", what would that entail?

The GPS model they refer to is in dxf form and located in real world coordinates (supplied by the surveyor).

Thanks in advance to any light someone can shed on this lowly engineer? 🙂

ArcGis will do this, if you have it.

Import your dxf into Arc and then change the projection to UTM.

Well for starters, what does “real world coordinates” actually mean in this case?

Latitude, Longitude, Ellipsoid (or Orthometric) Height?
Geocentric Cartesian X, Y, Z,
State Plane Coordinates?
Universal Transverse Mercator Coordinates?
Rebar on yonder hill with a whammy basis of bearing?

The initialism “UTM” usually stands for “Universal Transverse Mercator.” You would need to know which particular Zone (that's an easy one usually), and what Datum and/or Realization (which may or may not be so easy.
