We've been using TBC since its inception and it seems more and more, they are going the way of CAD.
Under the old free version of TBC, one used to be able to export points in a .txt format for CAD or for our clients and now that function is not available unless you have the TBC HASP. The CUSTOM export tab is now non-functioning. I have the HASP so that I can post process, edit and the like but others in our office just need to get points out for a given reason and now they're not able to unless they get the HASP from me.
How does one export a .txt or ascII or .csv file from TBC?
D*** you Tr*mble!!!!!
I'm running 2.8 (I think). So, I go to select points, type in 1...500 (because using 1-500 in TGO was too damn intuitive so we make you use three dots now), file, export, select the output location, then click export below that. It works for me.
I feel your pain... what was really irritating was that neither Trimble nor their dealer gave us any warning; in fact, I'm pretty sure the dealer first learned of it when I notified them. Fortunately, my position here is such that I caught it early.... for the people who don't have access to a license I kept them running v. 3.02. Trimble makes it difficult to back down to an earlier version, too.
I just got the upgrade to the new TBC. All my settings for exports were saved. You might have to create a custom export file and tell it what you want to export and what format.
If you don't have the HASP, custom files cannot be created.
$445.00 for each machine.
If you don't have a license - either HASP or server - 3.10 and up won't do much of anything, so if you don't have a license and are thinking about updating don't go past 3.03.
So 3.03 will work then?
It's still on Trimble's download page so I might just grab it.....
3.03 will work fine, as long as the PC will let you back it down if you already installed 3.10 or later.
Will there be an issue with a full uninstall then a full reinstall? If not, our IT guy can just go that route.

I attended a couple day Trimble seminar about 8 or so yrs ago. Each session was about an hour. At the end of the day, it all seemed like a sales promotion. But lunch was good and I got some cool "free" stuff.
One thing that several of the presenters maintained is that "TGO is not intended to be a CAD program".. "...it is a data processing program..." "... we put some tools in for your use, but not to do CAD work.."
Perhaps by "going the way of CAD", you mean annual maintenance fees? That is real, alive, and well - and is never going away. Don't know if other equipment manufacturers are on that page, but if they aren't I'm sure they will be sooner rather than later. Once they gotcha, they really gotcha.
I never upgraded to TBC. Still work with TGO v11.?. Works just fine for my needs, except I can't process static anymore. Lots of work arounds though with some planning and imagination.
Since you and I worked together I used star net, LGO, Carlson and Topcon. I have spent the last 11 years missing the greener grass of Trimble...
Good Luck, Tom
The uninstall may leave something behind in the registry... our IT guy has always been able to get it to work.

You can still process static data in TGO if you download Rinex Dates from the "services" tab above.
type in 1...500 (because using 1-500 in TGO was too damn intuitive so we make you use three dots now)
That might be the single most annoying "upgrade" I've ever encountered!!!!!!!!!
I have the free version of TBC-HCE v2.70. I can export .csv files from it.
do you have a link?
