Hello,
The group I work for has just made the brave leap from XP to Windows 7. In testing out all of our equipment for compatiblity we've found that the Trimble R7 receiver no longer speaks to the computer using Trimble Data Transfer.
So far we've downloaded the configuration utility,
http://www.trimble.com/trimbleconfiguration_ts.asp?Nav=Collection-10092
Installed every package and utility that has R7 associated with it from the Trimble website, used Windows Mobile Device Manager and contacted the local reseller. Nada.
As an aside, for a company that deals with information the Trimble website is infuriatingly unfinformative and confusing.
Windows tells me that it can see the device but can't talk to it. It appears we need Windows 7 drivers for this to work. Trimble don't offer drivers (that I can find) and, as mentioned above, the Mobile Device Manager didn't assist at all.
Any advice will be much appreciated as no one here can solve this mystery.
Cheers,
Bill.

Hi,
did you check the release notes ...
Depending on the version of your R7 you may have to install Winflash and install an USB driver ...
some rough cut & paste from the pdf
'Loading the USB Driver
This version of Winflash now includes the USB driver necessary to connect the Trimble R10 and Trimble R7/R5 Survey receiver with USB to your computer. Your PC will assign a COM port as your USB connection.
Once you have installed Winflash, the USB Driver installer is found in the Program FilesCommon FilesTrimbleUSB Driver1 folder. Follow the steps below to install the USB Driver.
1. Using Windows Explorer (or equivalent), navigate to the Program FilesCommon FilesTrimbleUSB Driver1 folder on your computer.
2. Double click on the Win7_USB_Installer.exe file in the folder. A Device Driver Installation Wizard dialog box will open. Note: If you are running Windows 7 64-bit, you will see a second dialog box, which automatically loads the 64-bit USB driver.
3. Click on the Next button if the installation wizard to continue.
4. The USB Driver will install and present you will and dialog showing the USB drivers that were installed. Click the Finish button.
5. The USB Driver is now installed. Note: The Windows 7 64-bit USB driver will complete its installation.
6. Plug the USB cable into the USB port of the R7 or R5, and then plug the other end into your computer. Your computer will find the device and assign a COM Port for the USB connection. A message is displayed in the Taskbar indicating which COM port the USB is assigned to.
1For Windows 7 users, the USB Driver folder is located in Program Files (x86)Common FilesTrimbleUSB Driver'
Hope this helps,
Christof.
I agree, that should work if you install the latest Firmware (Winflash) v4.80. Then you will have to re-config Data Transfer with a new device connected to USB instead of COM1or 2. If that doesn't work, email me, I have the USB driver in a ZIP file I can send you.
Thanks to both of you,
I've installed the drivers, winflash, and every other data packet available but still no love. It appears that the issue is that we don't have admin privileges over our computers. That is due to us being a small part of a large government department. We are going to just use a card reader to transfer the info and cross the configuration bridge when we get there.
Cheers,
Bill.

I have the software that will create a frequency file for your Trimmark 3 and will be happy to do so if you -
1. Make a $25 donation to Wendell for the continued maintenance of this site,
2. Provide the serial number of your Trimmark 3,
3. Provide a list of the frequencies to be included in the frequency file, and
4. Provide satisfactory evidence of your holding a current FCC license authorizing you to broadcast on all of the frequencies included in Item 3 above.
You can can contact me via the message feature of this site.

Sorry, but what i need is 3 frequency files for R8s, R10 and Trimmark 3 on the same frequency and mode of trimtalk 450s/trimtalk v.1 @ 9600bps.
and the units is already back home in the Philippines and i bought them used. i bought my trimmark 3 in the US and the R8s and R10 here in Canada which means the radio RF are not the same and i need to update it on the Philippines RF. the frequency back home for RTK is within the range of 450-470mhz. and on the province that im going to use my units is im the 2nd guy who owned an RTK and im the only trimble brand. so i guess im not going to make any problem with the other guy cos its simple to call him that im going to do some work.
