I've been using this old program for years to download our Trimble receivers via cable, but now that we are collecting the full constellation, the files are huge and they're taking forever to download. I have TBC but haven't been able to figure out how to shorten the downloading process using it. Was hoping someone could point me to a better way. Thanks and a good weekend to all.

Cheers.

Willy

What reciever and data collector are you using. What epoch rate are you collecting . What baseline distance or is it just for a opus type thing. I do a lot of rtk and logging at 5 and 15 seconds for various reasons. Up to 4 hours and i just download from receiver to data collector and thumb drive or navigate to our network drive etc. No issues so far. We are waiting fo

@olemanriver Right now running R83s and R10s with Access on TSC3s. Looking to upgrade next year to TSC5/R12s. I archive all the .T02 files for post processing if something appears goobered up.

@williwaw Those old tsc3 are bullet proof. I liked the tsc5 but I only ran it for a few weeks in field. We run tsc7 but i don’t have to tote that sucker around much anymore. I have not used the Trimble data transfer utility in so long. I would see if you can download via Bluetooth straight to tsc3 from reciever and then thumb drive it onto pc as a work around.

@williwaw i think you will love the R12i. If you like to topo and such with rtk. That tilt rod is awesome. It has saved me several times. One locating stuff i had no access to but could poke the rod over and get the tip on whatever I needed. And i don’t have to have my head out to be hit doing edge of road work just lay the tip and store point.

I’ve recently been using the USB adapter found in the receiver box, put a USB flash drive in it, stick in receiver, down arrow starts flashing fast, when it goes to slow flash it is done. It downloads all files into a folder but it is still faster than the previous method of using Bluetooth to copy files to the controller. It helps to purge files about once a week or so.

I do this at the end of the day, it’s downloading while I’m putting equipment away. If it’s a hike to the truck, even better. It is rarely NOT finished after I’m ready to drive away.

@dave-karoly Don’t recall seeing anything like that in our receiver kits. Post a photo and any other identifying information of it so I can track one down. My Trimble dealer seems to be avoiding me on the subject. LOL.

@dave-karoly   That's the R12i  antenna ?

edit: I don't know for sure whether the USB thumb drive, and small cable, work with anything but the R12i

Bluetooth is a tiny pipe and it will take days to download a file that way.  I tried it with a simple text file once about 5 years ago and it took probably a half hour for 1 days worth of topo data.

Anyway, like I've said before I use a TDC600 which has a USB-C port so I just drag files straight from that onto my PC.  I also use the device manager inside TBC to drag files straight from the collector into the .vce sometimes.

@bstrand I have had no issues with multiple 4hr files full constellation. From the r12 and r10. To the tsc7. But I guess if he has longer files and 1 or 5 second epochs that might.  I like the idea of the thumb drive in receiver but i don’t know if the R8 has that ability. I missed some of the in between receivers. I think the 5800 and R8 when it first came out. I left the Land Surveying side right as the TSC3 first launched. I had one for a month or so was about it. I used one that had seen better days for a year or so after coming back. Finally after 3 failures and have the keyboard didn’t work and one side of the screen was done i got a tsc5. And then moved to more project coordinator work. I am still trying to figure out all the tricks on the newer stuff. Spent some time Friday trying to update firmware in r12. A hard cable would be nice for sure .
