Hi,
I have a Trimble 5603 DR200 2.4ghz run by a TDS Ranger (tsc2) with Survey Pro 4.3 (GPS and Robotics). It has an optional module for "Trimble System Extension" that is not registered.

I have searched the Internet and contacted two TDS dealers and nobody can tell me if/how the TSE module will enhance performance with this robot. I understand this is/was a popular instrument and many people have run them.

Does anyone have experience with this and could they explain what it does? How much does the module cost?

This is my first post and thanks in advance for the replies.

The Trimble R6 GPS System can work with Trimble field software packages including Trimble Survey Controller(TM), Trimble Survey Manager, TDS Survey Pro with Trimble Systems Extension (TSX) and others.

Thank you. This might help a little to describe what I'm talking about. Top right is another module that is not activated at the moment. What does it allow?

This is probably a stupid question but have you actually connected that Ranger to the instrument? It looks like maybe that module is what makes Trimble play nice with it. Here is a technical sheet on it

Yeah, they talk to each other and the setup functions, takes shots, tracks, etc. The remote function to turn the instrument with the arrow keys towards the target is less than desirable (starts/stops/responsiveness). It isn't a continuous rotation like on the S6.

Would this module being activated help with remotely turning instrument after it loses lock on prism?

Does it also have a "profile" for the RMT 606 target for the constant?

I read through your link and some other things, someone mentioned that the TSX module didn't like working with other (non Trimble) GPS.

Nowhere have I read exactly how TSX "enhances" (per Trimble website) using Trimble products. Every link just repeats the sales pitch and does not give details of the nuts and bolts of what it actually does.

I just want everything to run at peak performance. Thanks in advance!

My best guess is thats just the way Trimble does business. They buy up everything that is good and functional then not support it so that it dies. R.I.P TDS. You're my boy

IMO that Ranger with the Survey Pro holds more value without that module.:-(
