I recently upgraded, well 6 months ago, from Carlson 2011 to Carlson 2016 with Intellicad. The crashes drove me crazy and I just could not get the hang of the slight hesitation after each command. I was somewhat convinced that it was my computer which I have had several years. I finally was frustrated enough (and other reasons) to upgrade to the OEM version. GREAT, No more crashes and no more hesitation after each command.
BUT
The first thing that happened was, I lost my quick access toolbar within 5 minutes of loading the OEM version and could not figure out how to get it back. I had a pull down quick access menu but no toolbar. Needless to say I spent several days trying to get it back and finally created a new one to make it work. I didn't really need it but I was determined to get it back. I haven't found the Object Properties toolbar yet and ended up setting the standard tool bar and the modify toolbar side by side, which is similar to having the Object Properties toolbar. While editing Mtext it took several hours to realize that the Text Editor was on the ribbon to change the size and font of text within the Mtext. I still can't find the rename or filter command, I'm not even sure they exist in the AutoCAD that comes with Carlson.
Before I upgraded to the OEM version of Carlson, I had purchased a subscription to AutoCAD 2016 for month for a project that was requiring multileaders, the rename and filter commands work fine there. When I first loaded AutoCAD 2016, I didn't even recognize it, the last version of AutoCAD I owned was 2002. After I purchased the subscription, I realized that maybe using multileaders was part of the AutoCAD that came with the OEM version of Carlson, so I emailed Ladd and found out it does.
by the way Thanks Ladd.
I'm getting there, but it has been a long week and I haven't got much work done. Lucky for me the project requiring multileaders was delayed. Now I have to figure out how the annotative scale works.
More Fun, but I guess that's what happens when you fall behind the current technology. One good thing, Carlson sure works great now.
