I think I've found a way to renumber points in a Civil 3D drawing. Export points, then import them back into the drawing using this setting:

If you want your points to start at 1 and you already have a Point Number 1 in the drawing, erase it and set Next Point Number to 1.

Wow!!!

I posted a few weeks ago about someone having a problem with their software doing a simple old school task. Got blasted for being old fashioned.

My 20 year old software has a routine in point maintenance simply called point re-numbering. By point, by range, by fence, by all. Take your pick.

I do not have to hunt and peck or get help from a public forum for simple surveying task's.

But, it does not play well with others these days and I know i have to change soon, but change to what? Hunt and peck guy or peck and hunt guy?

Why does a simple routine like figuring out how to re-number be considered as a holy grail?

Randy

Wow!!!

Randy,

Some people like to work crossword puzzles. I like to figure out how to do simple things on complex programs. It fills my day and keeps me out of the bars.

The part about Holy Grail was, of course, Hyperbole. They don't call me Big Deal Dave fer nuthin.

Wow!!!

Nice work Dave! I hope this gets the attention of a lot of the folks out there that have been hassling with exporting to Excel. Maybe repost it later so more C3D users will see it.

Wow!!!

Let them blast away.

I choose old fashioned first because it works just as good if not better and is quicker for me and it costs much less than newfangled.

This is what I do. Type in menubar in the command line if you don't have that toolbar up.

Going to points, Edit points, renumber. use a - to go down in point numbers.

Scott,

That works well if your point numbers are already in sequence, but if you have points 2,6,9,13,33,75,76,77,etc., using an additive renumber won't put them in sequence.

But it's good to know that renumber command is tucked up there. It's a quick and easy way to renumber points. I like that you can pick All or a Selection or a Group. I didn't know that command was there, so thanks.

Dave
