I have made the switch from Terramodel to Civil 3D; it has been fun ??ÿ ? !!

There are few commands that I am really missing from terramodel that I know must be in civil but I can't find them.?ÿ Do any of you know the civil command for the following:

Terramodel Command:?ÿ Offset Beginning (I can start a line a certain distance from the beginning or end of another line)?ÿ With civil, I have resorted to circles.

Terramodel Command:?ÿ Of line (I can draw a new line a use another lines bearing and or distance)

Terramodel Command: Bearing + Angle (I can click a line and turn an angle based on that line)?ÿ With civil I am using the UCS and changing it to Object so I can turn angles

Terramodel Command: Building ( i draw a line and then it lets me input the distances of a building and it does the 90 angles)

?ÿ

Thank you so much for the help!!!?ÿ Have a wonderful day!

Charlie

Terramodel Command:?ÿ Offset Beginning (I can start a line a certain distance from the beginning or end of another line)?ÿ With civil, I have resorted to circles. (Lengthen command. Start the line at the first line, then use lengthen to shorten the line a specific distance using the DE, Minus (-) distance)

Terramodel Command:?ÿ Of line (I can draw a new line a use another lines bearing and or distance) (Line using parallel snap)

Terramodel Command: Bearing + Angle (I can click a line and turn an angle based on that line)?ÿ With civil I am using the UCS and changing it to Object so I can turn angles (Create line by Bearing & Distance)

Terramodel Command: Building ( i draw a line and then it lets me input the distances of a building and it does the 90 angles) (that's a tough one, not sure about this in Civil)

Hope this helps.

To draw lines at right angles, turn on "ortho" (it looks like a right angle icon in the bottom of your screen below the command bar). then, just start a line (or polyline) and type in the distance and hit enter. to change direction just move your mouse to the left or right and continue entering in the distance, followed by enter. If you are making a closed shape, the last leg of the polygon (or side of the building) you can enter "c" for "close".?ÿ

Thank you, Trundle.?ÿ Do you draw your buildings off to the side and rotate them into place??ÿ When I use the ortho command it draws 90 degree angles based on north.?ÿ Is there a way to set a line or direction as the basis for the 90 degree angles??ÿ Thanks so much again and have a wonderful day!?ÿ Charlie

use the SNAPANG command to turn your crosshairs to whatever angle you want to be the basis of your building.?ÿ Keep ortho on and you will keep your lines parallel & perpendicular to the crosshairs.

I do a lot of construction and design surveying and it just seems to be easier to deal with the engineers.?ÿ It has not been a fun change for me.?ÿ There is some stuff I really like but a lot of it drives me crazy!?ÿ ?ÿAre you a terramodel user?

Hang in there, the company I work for made the switch about 5 years ago when I started here, the long time Terramodel users that had never touched an Autodesk product now hate going back into older jobs that are still in Terramodel to work on anything.?ÿ

Move, Copy, Rotate can be a good friend to have as well. You can add the command to your quick access toolbar at the top of the application window for easy access.

Does anyone have Terramodel locks for sale? Do you have any Foresight or Foresight DXM locks you'd be willing to part with? Thanks.
