To minimize the effects of blunders, I've gotten into the habit of creating new job files for the expansion of my control network. I also like to keep my topo sessions separate from the control network expansion sessions. But if one is in the field, creates a new point (not currently in the Control File), then starts a new Job say, to do some topo, that recently created point doesn't show up in the new Job file.

Is there a way (short of manually adding the point to the Control File), to import points from another job file, into a new job file (or adding them to that new job's Control file)? I want to do this in the field, with the field software.

Under the file tab, use the Import/Export button to export the points you want to an ASCII file and then import them into the job you want.

Carlson XPort and SMI Transfer are two programs I use to manage and combine and extract information from one file to another outside the collector.
I've always rather use a big screen showing both or multiple files at the same time while manipulating the creation of new and improved version.
I look at it as preserving the original file and picking what I want from other files and adding to a new file that is customized to the current project.

That worked perfectly. Don't know why I never tried it before; always used it just to import/export to/from the control file.Could have saved myself a lot of time had I tried this months ago. Thanks very much!
