Hey everyone!
I got a new, permanent user at my new job. On my new account, when I open an existing drawing, Carlson also opens a blank Drawing1 file. Anyone know how to stop this? My other account it does not do this.
Great question. I would like to stop that as well.

type "startup" in the command line.
type 1.
or i just always double click on the file directly in the folder instead of opening through the carlson icon.
(btw- iowans can stop this from happening by supporting their local maid-rite location. don't ask me why, it's just that way...)

Thanks...now I have a hankering for a loose meat and tenderloin road trip. With a swing through Wisconsin for a butterburger
We werenÛªt exactly saving up for the big one when the few guests begin to arrive the following evening. The cautionary note was something Jack Nicholson had said to me more than a decade ago after I had overfed a group in his home: ÛÏOnly in the Midwest is overeating still considered an act of heroism.Û

Couple of issues here. First, "STARTUP" in the command line is an unrecognized command. That was the first thing I tried. Second, I am double-clicking the actual file to open the existing drawing. And Carlson creates a second drawing.
weird- what version are you running?
wait- you're not including the quotation marks are you?

No, not including quotation marks. That was just for the post.
We are running Carlson Survey 2013
w/ AutoCAD OEM 2013 Engine
I've been talking to Carlson quite a bit about issues and they say the new versions of Carlson have tons of option-style settings removed. For example, no quickkeys. Some of these I have been able to overcome... others not.
I miss my AutoCAD. 🙁
i'm not sure- i know i made it work that way in 07 and 13. running 16 now and it defaults to no drawing1.
and i know this is cold comfort, but there are all kinds of workarounds out there on line if you have a little time to find them. i know at some point several years back, right after an update came out, i was having problems with... well, not with the senility from which i now suffer... anyways- i couldn't get my old version to do something (most likely something along the lines of talking to newer C3D files). carlson support told me there was no solution short of upgrading (big shock), but i spent a couple hours and found a patch file in some forum somewhere. wasn't supposed to work on my 07, but i hail mary'ed it since i was out of options. worked instantly and saved me from having to upgrade for a couple years.

I'm jealous. LOL
From Carlson Support
Aaron,
Here is the Drawing Template (DWT) file location where you can place your custom .dwt file. If you name it Carlson.dwt, it will be used for new drawings (and drawing1.dwg) automatically.

*If you can not see the AppData folder:
In Windows 7:
Within Windows Explorer, go to the Organize button along the top left and select Folder and Search Options. On the dialog box, select the View tab at the top and toggle ON the option for "Show hidden files and folders" and then toggle OFF the option for "Hide extensions for known file types".
In Windows 8 or 10:
Within Windows Explorer, along the top, click the View tab and off to the right, toggle ON the options for "File name extension" and "Hidden items".

Well if you think it will help, it's worth a shot! [emoji1]

There may be another source, but I think the cheese factory on Hwy 1, where you could watch the process through the window, was forced to close because they weren't big enough to support all the regulatory compliance.
