I'm using Trimble equipment and I've had a new problem on my last 2 projects that I can't seem to figure out.?ÿ Our survey style for collecting static data is set up as RTK + Infill.?ÿ This has worked fine ever since I started working here last summer but on the last 2 projects I've got back to the office to discover the base only logged data for (roughly) the first 1 hour when I had the base running for 5+ hours.?ÿ Has anyone else run into a problem like this before??ÿ Any ideas what might be causing it?
Nm, using an older receiver with not much memory and I think the memory card simply filled up. ♂️ ♂️ ♂️
I really wish there was a pop up warning or a little meter showing how much space remains or something.
I'm using the current version of Access on a TDC 600 and I receive a message telling me base receiver memory is running low. The survey style when I receive the message is RTK & Logging.
Even older units have memory for days of static. You may be set to record every frequency of every satellite of every constellation at any angle per each second. If you record most of what the GPS satellites are broadcasting, you don’t need but a couple of frequencies from the other consolations. Cut off at 20° and record at 10 second intervals.
was a pop up warning
in Trimble it's
" could not start the survey, shutting down..."
been there done that....
If you're using older or newer units it's helpful to continue to clean out the base files. Take a little time and look at the base files, if they have been downloaded be sure and delete. My DC's tell me the Base is filling up, although I'm proactive with base files so it's been years since I've seen that message. How often are you storing data? Mine are set to every 5 seconds. That keeps the files smaller than 1 second epochs. If for some reason I want the 1 second epoch I change the survey style or you can set up different styles to accommodate different rates.

Once you are connected to your receiver, go to GNSS Functions, and tap on Receiver Status.
You'll see how much memory is left:
It's in KB but not too hard to convert to MB/GB.
Of course, I highly recommend simply downloading and backing up, then wiping all static files off receivers every day/week/month/etc. When I was in the field full time, I didn't go more than a day or two without clearing out my receivers. Of course, that was when I was running units with a lot less storage (4800/5700/5800 and the like), and running static all the time, so it was more on our radar.

Interesting, I use a TDC600 as well and no such message for me. I wonder if you only get the message with RTK+Logging.

That's what I thought too which is why with only about 20 files showing in the receiver it didn't think much of it, especially when I checked a few files and they were all less than 1 MB. There ended up being several fat files in there sucking up a lot of space.
But yeah now that I know I'll be the only one that uses this equipment I'll be more comfortable deleting stuff out of it.
