Good day fellows,

I am new here and hope to share and get some important things related to our profession as land surveyor.
I am now trying to have a solar obseravtion computation in spreadsheet format with input details of actual solar observation including data for the computation of the grid azimuth of the observed station. Thank you.

Do you plan on using solar observations professionally or just for education?

Howdy,

What is your source for the algorithms you will use? One source is: http://www.rollanet.org/~eksi/2008EPHEM.pdf
The document is the last Sokkia ephemeris published.

Will you use altitude or time method? Do you have a solar reticule and filter? Will you observe the center or limbs?

What about the source for your ephemeris? Mr Jerry Wahl's site does not have a 2017 version that I could find.

Good luck.

DMM

The Naval Almanac has always been the best source.

Reasonably priced, but usually found at few bookstores.
