Is there a way to recreate a point that was overwritten using the Raw Data Editor (or another method)??ÿ I overwrote a GPS point shot on a benchmark when running a level circuit benchmark.?ÿ When it asked to update the elevation then overwrote the point, it also removed the GPS data for it.?ÿ I found the point in the Raw Data editor and it has all the original GPS shot info, but I can't figure out how to recreate it.
Thanks!
If you don't do anything else, CREATE A BACKUP OF THE JOB FILE.?ÿ Now that we have that out of the way...In TopServ (Magnet predecessor) there was a way when exiting out of the raw editor to have it basically regenerate the coordinate file from the raw.?ÿ If you can find that and maybe copy down and then delete the point stored during the level circuit that is causing the problem, you might get your GPS point back.?ÿ With a backup of the job file safely tucked away, the worst that should happen is that you have to overwrite the active job with the backup and try again.
There should be a backup file created at intervals while you were working, look for them, probably labeled .bak
In the raw data editor select the point obs you deleted and click ??edit?. It should prompt you to restore the point coords. At least version 4.3 does for TS shots (not sure about GPS)?ÿ
Thank you all for the replies!
Stephen, I looked for the recreate option and couldn't find it.?ÿ SurveyPro & Foresight had a similar routine.?ÿ I cant find it in Magnet.?ÿ
KalmanFilter, I tried your suggestion, but I don't think it does it for GPS.?ÿ I opened up the raw data record for the shot to edit it, but it doesn't recognize that it's missing. ?ÿ Also, it's got some sort of connection between the GPS shot and Level shot.?ÿ I changed the GPS point name in the raw data, hopefully to make it recreate it, but then it renamed the Level point name as well in the raw data.?ÿ However changing the Level point name does not change the GPS point name.
I'm not sure how to reconcile it.?ÿ Since I'm still in the field for this job it will probably be easier just to recreate the shot by setting the base on the same monument and reshooting the overwritten point.
You??re probably right. I haven??t used magnet field for Gps data, we still use an older rtk setup running topsurv.
For total station points, the deleted point??s observation data remains in the raw data editor, and attempting to edit it prompts the msg ??the point has been deleted, do you want to restore it?? Or something close to that.?ÿ
Another option may be to export the raw data to whatever office software you use and have it generate the point coordinates, instead of using the field coordinate file?
Just spitballing here ..;)
