Will Carlson ever be able to run on Android ? I would think a lot of surveyors would love to have a cogo version and some the full blown data collection package. With blue tooth and the portability and cost of the tablets, everyone will have one . For example in our house we have a Ipad and a Android tablet, hardly ever use the desktop .
I have loaded the hp48 program on the Android its the real deal , now all I need is Carlson . I can see using this in the field . Windows mobile is on its way out . Tablets will be the future . I think your missing a real opportunity if Carlson will not port to Android .
No, not going to happen.
There is a good chance of it running on the new Microsoft Surface running a light version of windows 8.
I have no idea of Carlson's plans, but Android is the way of the future. We're already seeing some software being developed for it, and rugged data collectors equipped with Android. It'll only be a matter of time.
Maybe the third or fourth generation Carlson will translate the product into Droid language.
After all, Bruce and a few buddies wrote the original to work on an Apple and his son helped translate it into machine language that worked on IBM units.
Then they developed it into windows and here we are.
Anyway, that is how I remember the story.
I personally would welcome it on my Droid.

That is a very good question. I have thought a good bit about this very subject (our company offers a scan viewer for android products). The problem for Carlson is the hardware. They make a good bit of money off of the DC packages, and rightfully so. They are good units built to last. Android would be a nice option, but I really don't think it is the cure all for Carlson. I still like my big fat buttons on a traditional DC.
