I was questioned by a person mapping ground lines into an LDP system in ArcGIS. The area he is in has a grid to Ground error of -0.05 to +0.05 ft/Mi.?ÿ He has the coordinate system set up using the .prj for the LDP. His question is?ÿ "I am looking for what goes in ArcMap's ground-to-grid blanks.?ÿ Esri wants something they call a distance factor."?ÿ

I don't use ArcGIS?ÿ but my advise is to use 1.0 since that's what the LDP was designed for.?ÿ What say you??ÿ

I would agree, I think. No need to put in a grid-to-ground conversion factor other than 1.0 if using an LDP. Can you ask him where he's seeing "distance factor"? A quick check of the help isn't turning up that specific phrase in relation to his workflow. Is it on the layer property page, Transformations tab, "Transform by: Rotate, Scale, Translate"? That has a scale parameter.?ÿ
